Expressive Light
Out of these 6 photos I took for our expressive light project, my favorite one is the fourth photo/the first photo in the second column. When taking this, I positioned it so the light was behind my model, Alexa, and I did not use a reflector or umbrella, so the light is at its original intensity. I wanted her to be faced sideways so I could capture her profile and maybe even have a hint of a silhouette. She is draped in a flower boa, along with holding two large flowers because this is meant to be a gardening themed magazine. I chose this particular picture as my favorite for a few different reasons. One being that, because the light is behind her, the only part of her illuminated is her face and hair, which is different to all the other photos, making it stand out. Another reason I like this picture a lot is because, when transferred to black and white, the contrast between the blacks and whites are defined highly. The backdrop was already black and she was also draped in a black fabric. The big flowers are a light pink, which is obviously different in comparison to the black. Because of this, the contrast is high, which enhances the photo. All the photos are kinda of the same how Alexa is looking at the camera, but this one is a side view, which makes it unique to the others.
